A number of apps are available which relate to New Zealand archaeological / heritage sites. Apps can be found by searching on Google Play, Apple's App Store or on Microsoft Store.

Some are device / operating system / system version specific, or may exist in versions to cover the range.

Some worth looking for:

• Public Houses, Private Lives: Excavating Christchurch’s Colonial Hotels - iPhone only. Search for Heritage Trails to access.

• High Street Stories - Android only. The Canterbury earthquakes (2010/2011) irrevocably damaged Christchurch’s High Street precinct, with Victorian and Edwardian streetscapes and lively laneways changed forever. Download this Android app and use the augmented reality feature to see High Street as it was.

• Path to Nationhood - Northland history - Search for Heritage Trails to access.

• Waikato War Driving Tour - The 1860's Waikato war - Search for Heritage Trails to access.
