Where page authors wish to have an external webpage linked in a form where the referenced material is archived as at the date seen they should consider using webcite.

WebCite allows you to nominate pages for archiving and gives you a reference to use for the archived page. Here for instance is an archive of the Archaeopedia front page as at 29 May 2005:
