Rotorua Museum of Art and History

Government Gardens Rotorua

The museum is housed in a heritage building of Tudor style opened in 1908 as a tourist bathhouse. It has a good collection of local Maori material and displays about the 1886 Tarawera eruption. The archaeological highlight is the way the building archaeology is explored showing the remnants from its first use and its decoration.
