Prehistoric Maori fortification and place of residence built on a volcanic cone. There is little on site interpretation. It is one of the least best preserved cone pa in the Auckland field.
Damage in the past has been caused by a water reservoir, a railway ballast quarry and the reforming into two sports fields.
A summit road has caused some damage.
Some of the former Maori occupation evidence in the form of pits and terraces can be seen by the summit at the south eastern corner of the reserve.
Much of the tree planting on the cone was exotic. Removal of these to replace with indigenous vegetation caused controversy in 2019.
