Simon is one of New Zealand's most experienced archaeologists. He has over 30 years research and field experience in New Zealand and Pacific Islands archaeology. An authority on both pre-European and historic periods in New Zealand, Simon is the author of numerous academic publications. His most recent publications include his monograph Lapita: A View from the East. Published by the New Zealand Archaeological Association in 2002.

Simon is one of New Zealand's most experienced archaeologists. He has over 30 years research and field experience in New Zealand and Pacific Islands archaeology. An authority on both pre-European and historic periods in New Zealand, Simon is the author of numerous academic publications.
