Historic Use of the Area

1907-09 British Antarctic Expedition or Nimrod Expedition. Leader: Shackleton Ships: Nimrod and Koonya. Built the Cape Royds Hut. (Re-used the Discovery Hut)

The site is protected as ASPA No. 157

Management Plan

Archaeology Archaeological assesements have been undertaken at the site by Nevilee Ritchie, Roger Fyfe and Sheridan Easdale Extensive work along with hut conservation was not carried out until 2006/8, undertaken by the Antarctic Heritage Trust.
