The University of Auckland Archaeology Field School will be held on Great Mercury Island/Ahuahu. Great Mercury Island is an off shore in the Coromandel and contains very early evidence of prehistoric occupation. During the two week field school staff, students, and archaeologists of the University of Auckland, Auckland Museum and Ngati Hei will work together on prehistoric remains. The focus of the research will be a garden feature and archaeological remains eroding from a sand dune.
