This page relates to Sites to Visit pages and other site pages, where there are often locations shown in inset Maps.

The locations are approximate only. The site record information has not been used here, rather locations identified from the photographs used by the map provider. The registration of the photography used by them is not precise. Hence features like sites often shift in apparent location when they change the photographic set it is using. The point allocated to the site on the map may be an inaccurate representation of the site location.

The boundaries of the site will not always be apparent from aerial photographs. Site boundaries commonly extend beyond the most apparent features.

The location information here should not be used for heritage management purposes.

Users wanting accurate location information for this purpose should consult with their local Heritage New Zealand office for advice or consult with a professional archaeologist.
