What -
Three gun emplacements put in place just before the second world war. They housed 6 inch guns. Camps and magazines were other features on the island related to the battery. A fire control position was on the summit of Rangitoto. They were supplemented by larger guns on Waiheke only late in the war - see [Archaeopedia].
