He was a founder member of the New Zealand Archaeological Association. As Director of the National Musuem - a predecessor of [[Te Papa]] - he was supportive of archaeology in that institution.

John C Yaldwyn 1929 - 2005

John was a zoologist with a strong interest in archaeology, participating in research projects and contributing to their publication in respect of the faunal material found. He was a founder member of the New Zealand Archaeological Association. As Director of the National Museum - a predecessor of Te Papa - he was supportive of archaeology in that institution.
